Two men were arrested at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon near Grand Island, apparently transporting a large amount of illegal drugs and drug-related items.Nebraska state troopers stopped a 2018 Chevy Yukon for running a stop sign after leaving I-80 at mile marker 324, NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said.
The passenger of the SUV supplied probable cause for troopers to search the car, but Thomas didn’t specify what he did to give troopers cause.
A search of the vehicle turned up approximately 4,100 illegal drug items, including thousands of packages of THC edibles, THC liquid, a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, Thomas said.
The driver, Jonathan E. Rodriguez, 29, and passenger, David B. Batchelder, 28, both of California, were arrested on charges including possession of hashish oil, possession with intent to deliver, marijuana possession (more than an ounce and less than a pound), possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.
Rodriguez was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The men were taken to the Hamilton County Jail, Thomas said.
